At the February meeting, we discussed our plans for the forthcoming year. One of the primary aims for the reading group in 2021 is to ensure an equitable focus on both platforms and pedagogy. It was felt that the former had been focused on at the expense of the latter in the previous year.
Three specific measures were identified to go alongside this more macro-aim: ensuring the readings are anchored to both platforms and pedagogy through a short justification presented at the beginning of meetings; choosing readings around important ‘ruptures’ in history, to explore the outcomes of these rupture for education and platforms; and ensuring there is a connection between the readings an contemporary, real-world events.
